Papal resignation
« on: February 11, 2013, 07:17:41 PM »
Pope Benedict XVI is to resign at the end of February due to his advanced age and lack of sharpness. He is the 1st
Pope to stand down in nearly 600yrs.

In view of his age, and his failure to get a grip on the problems within the Catholic Church, it's hardly as surprising as the media are claiming.  Quite why it's the leading news item today I don't know.

I don't know Irisado, the head man of over 1 billion catholics resigning has got to be pretty big news.

In Latin America, Africa, and the US it probably is, but over here not so much.

What happens to him now? Does he go back to being a Cardinal? Is there such a thing as Pontiff Emeritus?
