Sam Posey
« on: April 06, 2013, 06:28:54 AM »
I loved everything that Speed put together for F1, and hence was really saddend when it was announced that F1 broadcast in the US would move to NBC Sports. Bob Varsha covers the races when there is an Indycar race on the same weekend (Legih Diffy covers F1 and Indy.) But the two things I miss most about speed were Steve Matchets weekly "chalk talk" about all the current inovations and new designs, and Sam Posey's intros, outros, and "Posey's Perspective" on Formula One Debrief. I just ran into the last Posey's Perspective, which aired before Brazil last year. In it he talks about the 16 years speed covered F1, and has some good points about the current state of the sport. Just Sam's voice gets me pumped up and ready for a race!

I'm old enough to remember Sam Posey during his driving days. He was an outstanding driver then and is an outstanding commentator now. I hope that his features can end up on NBC.

I have one good reason to like the change. I can get NBC Sports Network. Speed isn't available in my area.

I am also sad that Speed does not cover F1 this season.
But here in Canada, TSN has blocked Speeds' broadcast of F1 so I was not able to enjoy their coverage anyway.
We get the British broadcast but it is cut off by TSN as soon as they can so they can quickly switch to a thrilling sport....like curling.....or paint drying.
