Scared of your wife?
« on: February 15, 2007, 08:46:02 AM »

Names have been changed for legal reasons.

A man has staked his claim for the title of the world's biggest coward after shying away from telling his wife that he crashed her new car.

Rather than admitting the prang, Ian  :P, decided that it would be better to pretend that he had been kidnapped. The 35-year-old called police and told them that he had been kidnapped at gunpoint by two men while in a bar.

Ian told officers that the gunmen had ordered him to drive to Santa Rosa and that he had managed to escape by intentionally crashing the vehicle into a wall. As it transpired, all of this was untrue and Ian admitted his lie under questioning by police.

As far as we can tell, he was alone in the car," said police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher. Ian had in fact been heading to a casino when he accidentally crashed his wife's Ford Focus and made up the kidnapping story because he was scared of her reaction. Police are now considering whether or not to charge him with filing a false report.

Don't blame him.  :-[
