Never ceases to amaze me. T-Shirt, leather helmet, gloves, goggles and MAYBE(?) a seat belt!

Kimi's back! Future double WDC.

Great video. The NBC crew said several times how the track was virtually the same as when the  race was first run, but it is in fact quite different. No armco, the tunnel is far shorter, the chicane is a simple left right flick, St Devote is much more open and quicker, and the run from Tabac to the Rascasse is straight and offers a passing opportunity. Frankly I like the older layout. The Lancia is slipping and sliding around, presenting more of a challenge. Oh and the panniers between the wheels are the fuel tanks, non puncture proof fuel tanks.

Never spotted a seat belt CD, that's when men were men.

Thanks, CD! As many of you know, Fangio is my all-time favorite driver.

They didn't use seat belts because the cars were rolling gasoline bombs. The thought was that the driver was safer being thrown clear. I also noticed that all of his safety gear fit inside of his helmet case.

I love his controlled drifting, especially his slide right out to the edge of the bridge at Portier. He comes within inches of dropping it into the harbor.

The close up of his hands demonstrating steering technique with an ashtray is priceless.  :good:

That blew me away too.  I guess that was just a promo film though.  No way did they have parked cars during the race.
