Some evil thieves decided to steal some computers from an organisation in California recently. Despite some rather sophisticated security devices including a motion detection system, they were successful. The bosses were understandably upset when they found out. So far, so normal.
Less normal was that
the equipment was returned, along with a badly-spelt apology note, later that day. The thieves figured out that they'd just robbed a charity that helped people who'd been through sexual assaults, and their guilty consciences led them to return the equipment. The local police said it was the first time in 30 years they'd seen stolen items voluntarily returned.
Sadly their consciences did not lead the miscreants to hand themselves to the police. Suppose one can't have everything...
