Ricciardo is confirmed in Red Bull F1 seat for 2014
« on: September 02, 2013, 10:04:15 PM »
Seems Mateschitz has backed Marko and Vettel over Horner.  ;)

DAN'S THE MAN FOR 2014

We confirm that Daniel Ricciardo will drive for the Team in 2014. As Sebastian Vettel is already confirmed for next year, this concludes the Team’s 2014 driver line-up.

Christian Horner: “It’s fantastic to confirm Daniel as the team’s race driver for 2014. He’s a very talented youngster, he’s committed, he’s got a great attitude and in the end it was a very logical choice for us to choose Daniel. He joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2008 and we’ve seen in his junior career in Formula 3 and Renault World Series that he’s capable of winning races and championships. He’s stood out in each of these categories and we’ve followed his progress with great interest. He’s got all the attributes that are required to drive for our team: he’s got a great natural ability, he’s a good personality and a great guy to work with. Daniel knows what the team expects from him; he’ll learn quickly and it’s very much a medium to long term view that we’re taking in developing him. The seat within the team is a wonderful opportunity and I think he’s going to be a big star of the future.”

So lets hope Ricciardo can take it to Vettel a couple of times next year.  Well, if nothing else, I'm glad the speculation is over.  Time for Ferrari to make an announcement.  Not to be upstaged right before Monza, maybe they WILL make it public this weekend.

Ah well, not what we hoped but what we expected I guess. He's a lucky lad, and will need to be on top form to fill Mark's shoes. Good luck Dan the man.

It looks like Seb has himself a #2 driver. I hope he does give Vettel a run for it, but I expect that Marko will keep him on a short leash.

Well that's great news.  Now I don't have to put away all of my Red Bull gear. I can wear my Red Bull team shirts at next years Australian GP without people thinking I'm a Seb Vettel supporter.
I can't think of anything to write here.

Chalk another one up to Eddie Jordan ;).

I wish him well.  He's going to have to fight against Vettel on the track, and Marko off the track, so he's got his work cut out for him.  I don't see him being able to beat the Vettel/Marko axis, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
