You seem to have as many, if not more, feast days or public holidays as France BD,    and they certainly have quite a few  - don't they Ian?

Oh John the modern society does not let us celebrate it all. In Hindu culture, it says celebrate 12 months with 13 festivals, we only celebrate 3 or 4.
In Muslim culture we have quite a few holidays, and so we only celebrate the important one
In Buddhist culture we have another quite a few, and still only celebrate the important ones.
And we are so happy to celebrate the Christmas, Easter as well

So as you can see the reason to be secular, you get to have more & more holidays and fun.
