More Trouble for Austin
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:46:49 PM »
Due to a huge scheduling snafu, it looks like the Austin GP will have zero casual local fans in attendance next season. At the same moment the F1 cars will racing outside of Austin, the NASCAR Cup cars will be right up I-35 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Oh no!

We already know from IRL that Americans can't watch open wheel racing when there's NASCAR on!

I assume this is the France family taking a direct shot at Bernie?  I'm certainly curious to see how this turns.  A little political gamemanship should make the USGP more interesting.

I don't think F1 in Austin was ready enough to fight such stiff competition, specially at that early stage of the grand prix history. Though their WEC round was a disaster, but I haven't any story regarding USGP, so the encouraging sign are there. I just hope that the race stays for a long tenure.

It was actually the other way around. F1 moved the Austin race to the 1st Sunday in November, the date of the Texas Cup race. Hopefully, it will speed COTA down the path of Texas World Speedway. (Does anybody else remember it?)
