Yet more novelty for new season; aren't the FIA good to us
« on: December 13, 2013, 09:09:08 PM »
A Pole Trophy - Wow  :swoon: what'll they think of next.  :DD :DD :DD
Oh and the penalty points thingammy starts as well.  ;)

Now can you win a pole trophy if you've been banned in the year? - We really need to know this kind of stuff if they expect us to put up with laughable regs changes on double points etc.   :D

As of the 2014 campaign, the FIA will award a trophy for the driver who qualifies on the front row of the grid the most times during the season. Should two drivers be tied at the end of the year then the award will go to the person with the most second places.

If a countback fails to separate the two drivers then "the FIA will nominate the winner according to such criteria as it thinks fit".

Motorsport's governing body added the new feature to its sporting regulations, which was posted on the website.

The penalty-points system also comes into effect next year and drivers will receive a race ban if they get to 12 points during the season.

"Penalty points will remain on a driver's Super Licence for a period of 12 months after which they will be respectively removed on the 12-month anniversary of their imposition," the FIA said.

Does F1 have an end of the year awards ceremony?

You'd think as a fan of F1 I'd know.

They can hand out a thousand trophies for all I care.

They most certainly do! This year's happened last Saturday. The other FIA world champions (fastest driver(s) in LMP1 and GTE-Pro in WEC, top WRC driver, WTCC title-winner) also receive their awards there, as do a bunch of champions from lesser FIA series who, unlike their world-title-winning colleagues, are allowed to skip the ceremony if they wish without getting fined.

Nobody screens the ceremony, but there will be photos of it on the internet, and Carhoots has some video of Vettel's acceptance speech.

Ferrari can veto Horner as Bernie's replacement. Do you think that RBR, or anyone else, could veto a Ferrari backed candidate?  ;)
