I switched from Edisons to cfl's several years ago. They were far more economical than incandescents and led's weren't readily available at that time.  Now, I'm in the process of swapping those for led's.

The electric here has always been a monopoly. Now , the government is going to allow competition. In prep for the change, American Electric Power's rates have skyrocketed. I was averaging around $35 per month. Now, it's jumped to around $55. I've already signed up for another provider.

We had a winter storm Sunday night. We're going to get another one tonight and yet another over the week-end.

Some Christmas songs, like Winter Wonderland and Sleigh Ride, are actually about winter in general, not just Christmas. Still, there is good reason why they are never heard after New Years Day.

If one were to walk about here today singing Let It Snow, Let It Snow, they would be either locked in an asylum or pummeled by an angry mob!  |-(

We had 6 inches with a coating of ice overnight. It was piled up high enough that I couldn't open either outside door at my house. I opened the window on the front storm door, leaned out through it with a shovel and dug out enough snow to let the door swing open.  :-[  Fortunately, it was reasonably warm this morning, about 30F.

We're supposed to get another storm over the week-end.
