This brings to mind the aphorism: 'better the devil you know than the devil you don't'.
We all know what Bernie is capable of.
Since there is no clear successor, we have no idea what he/her/they are capable of.
I'm not saying that there's no one better for F1 than Bernie, but there are lots of people who would be worse for F1.
