Lewis: performance clause allows 2015 Merc F1 exit?
« on: September 09, 2014, 03:38:34 PM »
Well one allowed 2012 Macca to Merc jump, so maybe yes.  ;)

There has been a lot written about Nando's potential break clauses but this is the first time I've seen any one discussing this as one of Lewis' options.

(The following was taken from a French website and the translation leaves a little to be desired.
Anyone wishing to view the French original will find a link pasted at the end.)

Lewis Hamilton and his performance clause

With a smile, Ron Dennis was present in the Monza paddock.  The big boss of McLaren was pleased to note the strong economic performance of his empire to the Anglo-Saxon journalists seeking a reaction to the implied Toto Wolff hinting that if the war between Hamilton Rosberg harmed the image of the manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, one of the two will have to leave the team.  They were obtained in the form of an index.

"The availability in Formula 1 is not as black and white as you think" it starts you at British journalists. "Sometimes there are performance clauses that provide the opportunity for drivers from and with this mechanism it is possible to say that it does not meet this objective.  "Before concluding more enigmatic:" Not to mention the things that were said by the officers or pilots, we can all imagine a number of scenarios that could see one of these drivers (Mercedes) on the market by the end of the year.  "

Following his intervention is a result of measurement common corporate communication (the failure to change drivers for next year and that Button and Magnussen are great drivers etc ...)

July 2011 The British press revealed a clause in the contract allowing the pilot Lewis Hamilton leave McLaren one year before his contract expired (end of 2012) the only thing that it is not world champion status or the team is not world champion in 2011 This clause was added by Anthony Hamilton, on the advice of Steve Robertson in summer 2007, during negotiations with Ron Dennis to sign a new contract between Lewis Hamilton and McLaren .

A few months later, the exit clause of the end of 2011 Hamilton was refined.  The 5-year contract originally announced was actually a three-year contract (2008/2009/2010) and two option years.  Options 2011 and 2012 depended on the fact that Lewis Hamilton is leading the world championship on September 1st.  What then explains the Red Bull rumors - Hamilton June / July 2010 for the 2011 season.

Knowing this clause, interrupting watching Ron Dennis and Lewis Hamilton's choice upon arriving at Mercedes AMG F1 ( see here ), the idea of a right to world champion in 2014 as a performance driver in a contract extension before 2015 makes sense.

So we can imagine that the first in September 2014, if Hamilton is not leading the world championship drivers, it has the opportunity to discuss elsewhere.  And that following the incident SPA, the clause (by agreement) is postponed to October 31, following the frozen negotiations between the English and the team for an extension until early November 2018 If Hamilton is not leading the championship driver world, he will have the opportunity to leave Mercedes AMG F1 and regain its momentum trading advantage.

I couldn't get past the first sentence without laughing... 'With a smile, Ron Dennis was present in the Monza paddock'.

...it's a bit confusing with the translation of course, but are they trying to say that Lewis would have an out at the end of 2014, or 2015?  It's not so clear to me.

The out would be at the end of 14 if his admitted three year deal is written in the same manner as his Macca contract, that's the point Limacher is making.
