Caterham Seat Might Become Rent-A-Ride
« on: August 25, 2014, 12:55:32 PM »
It looks like Kamui Kobayashi's seat at Caterham is going to become a revolving door rent-a-ride. Le Mans champ André Lotterer had it for Spa. Roberto Merhi seems to have it lined up for Monza. New team boss Colin Kolles looks to be using it as a cash cow to keep the struggling F1 team in the fight.

The FIA might cut short any further expansion to this rent-a-ride scheme, the rules only allow for 4 drivers per team a season without exceptional circumstances.  ;)

True, John, but we all know how the FIA rules work, don't we?   :D

That rule about driver changes seems to be strongly enforced though.  Pacific came up against it in 1995 when trying to make too many driver changes to the same car for financial reasons.

If drivers are willing to pay for the Caterham seat, I won't hold it against them, providing they're of at least a reasonable standard.  Lotterer actually set the bar quite high in Belgium.
