It's official...Lotus to run Mercedes next year.

They've certainly suffered more than RBR with the Renault, but if I was Lotus, I would have had more faith that it will be sorted out by next year, especially if the engine rules are lifted like they are voting on this weekend.  RBR will be all over Renault to improve the package.

I'll be interested to see if the engine change turns Lotus' fortunes around, or whether the problems there run deeper than the engine supplier.  I don't think that this year's chassis is all that great, and the budget is pretty tight too.  They should perform better next year, but will they match other Mercedes customer teams?  I am not convinced.

They certainly are a riddle of a team, aren't they?

I do like the wild card aspect they bring to F1.

Overall, I'm glad to see that Mercedes is committed to F1 for now

Definitely agree with you about that Jeri .

They've been through so many guises now, it's hard to know exactly what they will produce from year-to-year.  I think that Grosjean will deliver if the car is good enough next year, but Maldonado, for me, is just not consistently good enough to compete at this level.  The fact that they are retaining him suggests to me that they still have a serious cash flow problem.
