Caterham to Run 2014 Car Next Season
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:28:51 PM »
The F1 Commission and FIA have agreed to let Caterham run their 2014 car next season. The move was made to help the team find new ownership.

"It's a very difficult purchase decision for any party because of the huge costs involved in running an F1 team," Caterham administrator Finbarr O'Connell said. "I'm still talking to a few interested parties, and I'm hoping one of them can do the deal. The number of people I'm talking to has increased, with two very strong candidates, and a third less strong."

This reminds me of the end of the 2005 season, when Minardi was allowed to run it's Cosworth V10 engines for one more season to facilitate the STR buy-out. I hope that this is as successful for Caterham as that was for the folks at Faenza.

It's a very sensible approach if it helps the team to be sold and to stay on the grid.  Let's hope that it is successful.
