Marchionne has been doing the interview tour
« on: December 23, 2014, 07:55:37 PM »
Full of opinions and plenty of blame.  I wonder if when he is tossed out the door next year that his replacement will do the same.  It's starting to resemble an Italian soap opera.

and just for a little fun - Arrivabene is, according to Google Translate, 'Here comes good'.  Well, for Ferrari's sake, I hope so.

There are a large number of people who think Ferrari became successful during Michael's reign because the Italian influence at the teat was reduced to nearly zero. Todt, Brawn, Byrne, Schunacher; no Italians at the top.

I've always shared that opinion.

There is no doubt that Ferrari can attract good drivers but even the best drivers need a reliable and competitive car. Ferrari's only successful periods in recent history have been when the team was modelled on other, mostly British teams. My only involvement with an Italian business was working with a major ship building organisation.   They went from being a hopeless, loss making joke to one of the most successful shipyards in the world and they did this by employing British and American senior managers. There is something about the Italian culture that seems to create a lack of cross-department trust and cooperation.
It seems to me that the management changes and the way the changes have been made at Ferrari are indicative of this problem.
