This would be more of a feat if some evidence was forthcoming that others used two or three engines, otherwise it's just bigging up Merc's PR spin.

Anyway with the cost of these power units how many teams apart from factory ones can afford to run multiple engines ahead of the season?

Considering the mileage they did over the 12 days, it still shows the engines are bulletproof and fast.

It makes me think of the mid-fifties, when Mercedes was unstoppable in F1. Who knows how long that would have lasted had Merc not withdrawn from motorsport after the 1955 Le Mans disaster.

The only reason why Red Bull got 3 wins, because of reliability issue of Mercedes. If what they claim is true, then other teams have to depend on entirely Nico or Lewis hammering at each other, which only happened once in 2014.

Lotus and Force India, as far as I know, only used one engine for their new cars (in FIF1's case, it would be more surprising if they hadn't...)

From what I gather, all other teams had to replace at least one engine component, but nobody comes close to the number of fried parts McLaren did. Apart from McLaren, I'm not expecting any differences in reliability, only to the extent to which teams feel confident on "leaning" on their engine - a tendency itself limited by the fuel flow limit (which is of course not enforced in testing!)
