21 Race Season for 2016?
« on: May 01, 2015, 09:18:40 PM »
Including Baku taking place sometime in July.  I like the sound of more back to back race weekends - F1 helps keep my weekends balanced between work and fun.

I've read in other places that the 2016 calendar leaks have been rubbished by FOM, but they aren't going to admit it unless it is their announcement, are they.  The other thing is that Bernie could never lay down a calendar so early in the season when there are so many classic races left where he could pull the rug out from under their feet so to speak.

I'm already on the record saying the more the merrier as far as races go, so 21 gets my  :good: :good:, and 22 or more would be  :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Remember that this season was originally supposed to have 21 races. That allowed the teams to have an extra engine. I don't think anybody really expected the Korean GP to happen this season. it was just a ploy.

Now, with Germany gone,  we're down to 19.

I don't know why they would want to keep the schedule under wraps.

The sooner we know when and where the races are, the sooner we can plan.

Also, if there's a fundamental flaw in the 'leaked' schedule, then someone will point it out to them.

I hope that we don't have more races.  Quantity does not equal quality.  I'd rather keep the calendar below twenty races, use decent tracks, and design the cars/change the rules to promote better racing.  I don't want more boring races at lifeless tracks.
