"The white Christian males who discovered.........." weren't they the same people who forcibly took the country from the native indians.

Spain had a surplus of warriors because they had literally just chased the Moors from 600 years of occupation of the Iberian peninsula.

England is populated by Anglo Saxons, despite being a land of Celtics

Hell, the 'Aryans' that Germany was so hot about were from Asia, not Europe.

Aside from a few small groups, very few people in Europe are 'from' where they're from, nor have an extensive history of being ruled by their current government.

We can see that it's wrong now, but it's hardly like 'we' showed up in North America and decided to try something new:  it was business as usual.  I don't think any progressive thinker agrees it was the right idea, however 'fixing' it isn't a simple matter, especially since the people who caused the problem are long gone, and making their descendants answer for any crimes won't solve anything.

And the USA,Great Britain, and France of now  days sure isn't
the ones I remember from my youth or even 20 years ago....
and unfortunately that isn't a good thing.

I think it's a good thing.  A government cannot be a static one size fits all dusty old book.  People change.  Culture progresses, technology progresses, mores progress.  (Note, I use 'progress' in a generic value neutral term.  Progress isn't always better, but it is change that must be accommodated)  Sometimes the government keeps up with the people, sometimes the people outrun the government.  I'd like to think that most G7 countries are equipped with governments that allow the nations to change and grow.  On the surface we may not be recognizable, but would think that 'deep down' our national characters continue to mature.

Sure is tough on us oldies ain't it Dare.  ;)  It's why we are grumpy ol gits.  :D

However the rose tinted hues of long looks back at our youth can cause us to yearn for those more energetic times when we felt the world was our oyster.  :tease:

I too am sure things are different now; but I'm damned if I can really pinpoint whether it's me or society that's really changed - and more especially when & why it happened.
