Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise 2015
« on: August 16, 2015, 03:32:14 PM »
Call it America's Goodwood.

The annual Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise in Detroit. It runs for four days every August. Here are some pix from Thursday and Friday this year. Enjoy!

:'(  I want my '68 Firebird back. Or my Dad's '51 (?) Ford, Blue dot tail lights, leopard skin seat covers, and an exhaust loud enough to earn it the name "The Bomber" in tiny De Forest WI. My Aunt Eleanor's '58 Chrysler New Yorker. She drove that car through a corn field after a day at the Lodi Festival beer tent. Had about 8 people on board, no injuries. My Uncle Francis' '55 Ford Victoria. My Uncle James' '55 Packard. My Grandpa's '56 Buick, first car I ever saw with electric windows. All years approximate, wonderful if slightly fuzzy memories.

Wow, some real beauties there.  Love 'The Monkees' mobile (though I think it was a different model in the show).  Great fun to flip through Cos!  :good:

The Monkeemobile looks like one the two that Dean Jeffries built for the show. One was used for filming while the other was used for public appearances. The car originally had no rear suspension. The axle was mounted directly to the car. I guess it was quite a handful to drive.

I sympathize, Lonny. I'd love to have my '66 T-Bird Town Landau back.

Here's some pix from Saturday. All #78 would need to be my dream car would be some Jade Green Metallic paint & Ohio plates.   :good:  #130 would be a close second.

I think you're right now that I've had a look at some of the original pictures.  Nice...
