Surely it can't be sour grapes, - oh and penalty worries seems just a tad flimsy to me. 

Christian Horner says Red Bull may not go ahead with Renault's mooted engine upgrade for the Russian Grand Prix, saying it needs to determine whether it is 'worth taking a penalty for'.

With relations between the two parties now almost irreparably strained as the latter stages of the season approach, Red Bull had been expected to make use of an updated Renault power unit for the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.

However, as speculation grows that Red Bull will not use Renault engines at all in 2016, Horner questions whether the performance gains from the update will be worth taking another penalty for with only a few races remaining

“It hasn't been confirmed to us when it will be or how much performance it will be either,” he said. “When we understand what the performance gain is then you've got to weigh it up with, 'Is it worth taking a penalty for?' So we'll wait to hear from Renault on that.”

Not wantimg to take penalties or not wantingbto develope the engine for the next team.

I really hope Horner has another contract with the ink dry, because the way he is slaying Renault in the press has GOT to make other engine man's nervous about having such a loose cannon as a customer.  Starting to appreciate the real reason Merc probably doesn't want to supply them. 

Mind you, if he has Ferrari on paper, Ferrari will be far less polite than Renault has been throughout this episode.

All he wanted was for Renault to have more power... so now that Renault offers more power, he slags them off?

Where are the adults?  Why would the 'Red Bull' brand be well served by NOT taking a risk or trying to get maximum power?

"Red Bull gives you wings!  But if they're not the wings you want, just complain about it, and when they offer better wings say you'd rather stick with the ones you were complaining about in the first place because the last thing you want to do is take a chance"

If I drank Red Bull  I'd switch brands.
