Cheers to the Mexican fans...not often you see the stands packed for qualifying.  Fun circuit with plenty of opportunity for mistakes  :good: :good: :good:

Is Lewis going to relax a bit to let Nico get 2nd place?
The drag race to turn 1 will tell all.

A great day for race fans in Central America.
The fans were out in force for quali and to support Sergio as the 1st F1 driver in a few years.
The track appears to be a nice change from the layouts we are used to seeing.
The high altitude will offer new challenges to the engines and also how the aerodynamics work. Thinner air will require more downforce to get the same effect.
Now lets add some rain to the mix and see what happens.

All true, but there is another issue that reared its head - cooling in thinner air.

I didn't hear any complaints about cooling the hydraulics, engine coolant or oil, but Kimi had some fire under the body work and Nico's brakes were literally on fire.  Some commentary suggested that the thinner air was partly to blame for that.
Life is short - live each day to the fullest.

I taped the qualifying and just finished watching it.  It was impressive watching (and hearing!) that crowd!  Mexico has the fans.  I especially loved that one straight that went through two towering stands.  That's got to be fun for the drivers.  I know they love an audience.

What a disappointing race that was.  I'm happy that the fans enjoyed it, and had their interest maintained by watching their local hero Perez.  As a race though, it won't go down as being very memorable.  There was very little overtaking and precious little drama.  The only entertainment was the Raikkonen/Bottas collision and Vettel's error strewn race which caused me great amusement.  They certainly didn't need the safety car to retrieve his machine though.  It was well off the track, and they should have been able to remove that without neutralising the race.
