Canadian to enter F1
« on: November 12, 2015, 07:37:56 PM »
Ok, it's Lance Stroll, whose Dad could buy half of F1 if he felt like it, and probably has written out a big fat cheque for Claire to cover any busted carbon fibre and something to take home, but just the same, glad to have a Canadian back in an F1 car.

I guess that explains why Susie Wolff left.

In fairness, Lance would be a very good F1 driver in about three years' time. He has a lot of potential but needs to gain maturity and consistency before being given a F1 race seat.

As a Canadian citizen (who prefers to have dual citizenship and living in a warmer place) I am surprised that I have never heard of this driver or his father. But then, being #5 in a foreign F3, and a father that is ranked #16 in Canadian wealth doesn't rally stand out. Have to admit that having 16 billionaires in Canada is a surprise, wonder where Jericoke and I stand in the rankings?

I'm closer to being an F1 driver than I am to being a billionaire   :-*

Lance Stroll has been a Ferrari Driver Academy member since he was 11. They did concede at the time that his father had connections with the Ferrari dealership network, but he did seem to be a good karter at the time. Lance's performances since then have been low-key, but this year, he has been the second-best F3 rookie (the best rookie being Charles Leclerc, one year older and also having had a year in French Renault 2.0, who's rumoured to be joining the Ferrari Driver Academy at some point in 2016 if he maintains his performance level in GP3).
