Renault planning on being humble next year
« on: January 02, 2016, 01:28:21 PM »
Seems they are planning on a Mclaren type of year with the new team.

A couple of confirmations in the article...

Renault planning on integrating Enstone and Viry-Chatillon.  If I recall correctly, there were some pains involved last time in getting the French/English working together.  Bob Bell, formerly of Merc, will be in charge of that.

Ilmor is involved with boosting the engine programme, which should keep the customers at bay for the moment.

It sounds like they're going in with a good attitude for long term success. I look for them to outdistance McLaren-Honda in the coming season.

I like the approach that they are bringing.  Integrating facilities is going to mean quite a bit of short-term pain in my opinion, especially on the technical side, so they are sensible to play down expectations.

It will be a return for Bell, since he ended up being team boss after the Briatore/Piquet/Simmonds race fixing scandal.

Happy that Renault may be getting serious and looking forward to watching their 2016 performances.
But... "How well do we integrate the structure? How do we integrate the people, the organisation? How do we put in place the links between the two entities? The culture, the mindset? How do we start catching up properly on the engine?
Historically the French and English mix as well as oil & water, so it will be interesting.
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough.” ― Mario Andretti.
