Danny Ric Says No Change in Renault Power
« on: February 23, 2016, 12:21:45 PM »
Red Bull Driver Daniel Ricciardo says he sees no improvement in the new Renault power unit.

"It pretty much feels like we ended last season. Which isn't a bad thing, I think on day one it's a lot better platform to work from than what we had this time last year.

"There wasn't any whiplash or anything like this... but I'm a bit happier and it's a good start, it's probably all we can ask for, for now."

Sorry, Danny. The new Renault may be much better. On the other hand, the new TAG Heuer unit isn't any better than last year's Renault.   ;)

Well if you compare Danny Ric's Monday best time of 01:26.044, which he set on Medium tyres, to his Qualifying time at last years race of 1:26.770, which was also set on mediums, is he attributing all of the improvement to RBR aero and chassis?

Since this was the first day of using the 2016 equipment and the conditions are much colder than at a race weekend any increase would be welcome but to find .726 is like finding over 1.5 secs in real terms, how on earth can you paint that as simple aero gains? :nono:
