Grosjean Tribute to Bianchi
« on: May 26, 2016, 02:10:00 PM »
Roman Grosjean's helmet for this week-end's Grand Prix of Monaco is a tribute to his friend, the late F1 driver Jules Bianchi. Bianchi, a native of nearby Nice, finished 9th at the 2014 Monaco race.

The helmet has a picture of Bianchi, his #17 car number and "Monaco 2014 P9".

Well done, Roman.

Well done to Grosjean, but aren't there rules about drivers not changing their helmets midseason?

I accept that this is a very good reason, but Vettel auctioning off unique helmets for local charities was also a very good reason, and they stopped that.

They are allowed a single "one-off" each season. Many drivers do them for Monaco.

That's a nice touch.  Changing a helmet design for a constructive reason is also very welcome.  A refreshing change from Vettel's constant changes for no reason other than to satisfy his immature attention seeking behaviour.

I like it.

I think it may not be a problem and it is a change that is barely noticeable with regard to the TV cameras with cars at speed.

I am very happy that Romain has done this beautiful tribute. Drivers are allowed a "joker" one-off helmet for a single race each season, as of this race.

My affection for Romain keeps on growing. Too bad someone like Merc doesn't give him another shot at a top car.
