Honda Defend Snap Decision

Honda has defended its decision to sacrifice world championship points within sight of the chequered flag on Sunday.

Fifth-placed Jenson Button's V8 blew spectacularly in the last corner of the Australian grand prix, and he was reportedly told on the in-car radio to pull the smoking car over before it crossed the finish line. This was to avoid having a 10 place penalty for an engine change at the next race. Points vs Places.

The decision from Honda was made in a matter of seconds - Was it the correct thing to do?

I've heard they feel Jenson can win in Imola so if thats the case then why not! Jenson has always gone well there! It shows Honda want Jenson to be winner as much as we do, and that was obviously the best way to get him on that top step!

Knowing Jenson’s luck he’ll crash out of Imola anyway and come 2nd in this years championship, 3 points behind the winner..

To me it was a silly mistake.  Why, because if he loses the championship by 2 or 3 points how will they feel then. I think if he did have to do 10 places then who's to say he still could not win. Grand Prix racing is a funny old world.  I did not think Toyota would make the poduim but thy did and was over joyed at the fact but what Honda did was A silly mistake.
