Happy New Year guys.

Scott - congratulations on the sale :good:

What line of work will you be looking for a job in? Are you staying in the area/same house?

Wayne

No, the house goes with the hotel.  Probably the same region at least to start.  Probably look for a rental for a little while and then figure out what the next 5 year plan is.

I have some background in IT Purchasing and IT Sales, but although I haven't dipped my toe into the job market here, I imagine perfect English will come in handy for multinationals in Switzerland, maybe look for a job as a North American purchaser.

As New Year arrives here first (NZ) I should have got in on this earlier!
A Very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all for 2017.
I'de like to get a couple of things straight that have been mentioned in this thread!
  • Cycling all year round is possible in the UK although you need to be an extreme cyclist!
  • 6 months is not a long time to wait for a public holiday as in my line of employment I do not get any of them or days off, retirement is not all pleasure!
  • European beer is varied and yes some of it is not good but the majority, especially Belgium and the UK ales, is very good but don't take my word for it go try it!
  • Finally if you want to cycle all year, drink good varied beer and be a retirement employee then top of the south New Zealand is the place for you.

Have a great 2017.
Once you have retired every day is a Saturday!

You forgot to add Earth tremors to your list of South NZ things to appreciate Andy.  ;) :D

Oh Andy,  you can cycle all year round, I'm pretty much a fairweather cyclist and have only had voluntary 2week break.  It's cold but gloves and a Buff make all the difference,  you might look like you are off to rob a post office but at least you are warm.

To all the members of my beloved GPWizard Community I would like wish a great, joyful, prosperous and brilliant 2017 ahead of you.

It has been a hell of a ride for me 2016, had so many ups and downs, but at the end of the day it made a better person, gave me a better perspective on life.

Like Scotty I am expecting some major changes in my field of work, keeping my fingers crossed.
Keep running the fast cars, you will be never out of girls

Maybe Scott we should all try to think of a line of employment for you!
So with experience in public relations and caring for guests Traffic Cops out of the question!  :DD
