..and Ferrari style multi-jet injector system. - Wow!

Now that's what I call a real change of direction,  :D  must have started before Ron left though - so size zero just got bigger.  ;)
Freeing up engine regs seems to have got all the competitors upping the ante.  :good:

I'll take a wait-and-see attitude right now. Copying the idea is one thing. Making it work is something else. It will be interesting to see how well Honda can pull it off.

In any case, FP1 at Melbourne is going to be very interesting!

I hope that there are not a lot of DNF's in the first couple of races,  unless it's the Mercs ;)  to help spice up the season.

Okay you can improve your engine for 2017 but what happens
if you get it wrong...are you stuck with a crappy engine for 2018
like before

It's a reasonable enough theory. It remains to be seen if you can take the best features from several manufacturers and combine them successfully.

I hope it works, if only to keep Mercedes honest.

No I'm pretty sure the gloves are off and the engines can be developed anyway they choose going forward in 18 as well as this year.

They can still only use 4 engines per car in a season before getting penalties though, so they will introduce changes/upgrades at strategic intervals - unless their engine is really pants of course.  :D

The change engine doesn't have to be an upgrade of the previous unit it can be completely new, well very different anyway, to the one it replaces. There are no tokens so no restrictions on what can be done, as long as it's inside the parameters of the published engine regs - i.e. 1.6 turbo internal combustion, etc, etc.
