Kubica Considers F1 Return
« on: April 05, 2017, 12:27:55 PM »
Robert Kubica is moving into LMP1 for Le Mans and talking about a return to F1.

"I am not thinking of returning for now," he told the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza, "but it is not a closed chapter for me. It is now much more likely than it was two years ago. Perhaps one day my patience will be rewarded.

"I will not say anything until it is sure."

Prior to his rally accident, many of us thought that he might contend for the WDC. I wonder how likely a return would be now at age 32.

As exciting as he was to watch, I would have to say I don't think it's a great idea.

I'd agree - probably be a bit of a disaster in all honesty

We'll see how he does at LeMans. He's driving for ByKolles, which is Colin Kolles & his father. Kolles was involved with F1 through Midland/Spyker and Hispania.

Certainly the greatest casualty of 'cost cutting' in F1 is limited testing, meaning it's not really possible for someone to get into an F1 car and see if they can handle it.

A recent article about Stroll's disappointing F1 start, versus Jacques Villeneuve's initial success pointed out that that Villeneuve had already completed thousands of laps in an F1 car before his first race.

I'd love to see Kubica get a chance in F1 again, but I don't see how it's possible for anyone to give him that chance without taking a ridiculously large risk.

Been away too long and with limited use of his
arm probably not possible.
Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."
