Finally, A Drone with a Pilot Seat

The Kitty Hawk Flyer. The builders call it a flying ATV. I'd love to try one of them!

The thing that will stop this type of transport is its potential to land on someone and shred them!

The only way this could realistically happen is if they are autonomous as there would be far too many deaths through crashes people are bad enough driving cars let alone adding the aspect of flight to the mix.
Nice thought though.

Totally agree.  I wouldn't go near a flying car if I knew they were controlled by humans.

People complain about traffic noise...can you imagine if it is suddenly all overhead and sound like high powered drones?  Plus rush hour would be like an eclipse with all the friggin' things flying around all over.

I've been getting into flying machines controlled by humans for decades & I haven't been killed even once. On the other hand, I deal with computer systems blowing their waffles on a daily basis. I really don't want to be in a position where "the blue screen of death" will actually result in my death.

I still can't understand why anybody would want a self driving car (or a self flying plane, for that matter). Every time I hear about them, I think of Woody Allen's sci-fi satire Sleeper. One of the things they have in the future is the Orgasmatron, a machine that has sex for them. Sort of the ultimate extension of the self-driving car.  ;)
