Pole pick

In the grid game if I pick Hamilton for pole in Austria does it still stand considering his 5 place grid penalty ?

If he wins pole it would count in the GG. The 5 grid penalty is for the race

Interestingly, if he had got pole, it wouldn't have officially counted toward his march to pass MS as the all time pole winner. For official F1 records the driver who starts the race from pole is the official pole winner. If Lewis' last lap had pipped Bottas, Valterri would still have been the "Official" pole winner.

But!
I looked at the rules as I too wondered how this would work and I believe Dare that you are wrong and our Pole Position pick is for the driver that starts the race in pole.

The below has been copy and pasted from the rules.
Predict the following:

Pole position (2 points) Driver that starts the race from pole.

I stand corrected Andy. I'm not sure if it was changed for
this year or if it's always been that way. We've tweaked the
game thru the years and I guess I've either overlooked or forgot.

I wouldn't know Dare I only looked as I there are two options, that one and the one I use for my game which is "the driver who is fastest in Q3" I decided to go that way as some of my players set a banker and work stops them from keeping up with the race weekend penalties.

I reckon Lewis knew our GG rules Dare, if it doesn't count for us why bother giving you're all.   ;) :D

I really feel that if you win pole you should have pole in
the record books. The 5 spot penalty has nothing to do
if you were the fastest in Q3 or not.

I totally agree Dare hence why in my game pole is the driver who is fastest in Q3 not who starts the race on pole but rules are rules.

Andy a lot of the GG rules were agreed upon during
race chat. We've been meeting in chat for around 10
years now. I hope that's why my mind is foggy on the
rules. Should have looked it up instead of relying on
my memory.

Wiz,Cos,Ian and me were there from the start. Seems like
Scot,Philbe, and Jeri were year 2 and the rest happily showed
up in following years. Make the race a lot more enjoyable.
