Anyone have a program to change jpeg to a  down loadable
format for pictures.free would be better

A short crash course wouldn,t be bad either

If you've got a Windows PC, Microsoft Paint (built into Windows) will do it - at least from XP. Just load the file and save it into the GIF or PNG format you want. The place to change the file type is the bar near the bottom of the Save (or Save As) function.

If you've got a Linux PC, a Mac with MacOSX on it, or Microsoft Paint doesn't have enough options, download GIMP from the official site. It's free and has lots of options, but it's rather complicated. So I'll walk you through a conversion:

1. Load GIMP. It's not the fastest program to load...

2. Go to File, then Open (assuming the file is on your hard drive - internet files use a different opening system).

3. Find your file.

4. Click "Save a Copy" - this keeps your original file intact as well as giving you a downloadable file.

5. Click "Select File Type (By Extension).

6. If you insist on looking at all the different options to save the file into, grab a cup of coffee to revive yourself. I mean, who'd want to save a picture as C source code anyway?!?

7. Find either the GIF or PNG option.

8. If you're saving to GIF, click on "Convert to Indexed", unless you really, really want to submit a greyscale picture.

9. Studiously ignore all the options on the next screen and simply click "OK". You can always alter the comments when you submit to GPWizard!

And now, here is a step-by-step for Microsoft Paint:

1. Load Paint.

2. Click "Open".

3. Find your file (and hope you've put it in a sensible place).

4. Click "Save As".

5. Look at your "Save As Type" (this is the bottom drop-down menu).

6. Click on the arrow and select either "GIF" or "PNG" (I believe either works in GPWizard).

7. Change the file name if that helps you remember the file.

8. Click "Save".

9. Use this file to download into the gallery.

dare, pleased to assist. If you have any more problems of this kind, feel free to ask me.

ian, would you like me to give you a more detailed explanation of how to put a picture in a format that GPWizard's gallery can understand? If so, I will happily provide one. Sorry for accidentally sending the whole thing to Saturn.

Hi Greener

Welcome to our mad community.  :D

The stars under members names represent the amount of posts that member has made, this is also true of your 'qualified' status. Some forums have junior members and senior members etc, ours are all F1 related, so the longer you carrying on posting the higher your status will be.

Any other question then always ask, we are here to please.  8)

Unless you rise to the exalted status of Administrator of course - anyone with responsibility for the website's upkeep has the same title regardless of how many posts they have or have not typed.

Welcome to GPWizard, greener_09. Hope you enjoy contributing to our community.

I have a question for you Ali.

In your step by step method so I can understand
how can I download a picture on here from My
Pictures when the picture is too big?

Do you know of some software that I could use?
