Hehe, Pace/safety car crashed on the lead out lap, nobody injured though.

An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.

Don't know about but Deroit but at Indy they had a celebrity
driving the pace car. Seems like a formula for disaster. Deroit
had two good races but no contract for next year.

They did the same thing in Detroit. It was some basketball player from the Detroit Pistons. Celebrities in supercars, what could go wrong?

It was one of the very few Indy Car races on network broadcast TV. Took them 34 minutes to clean up the mess. That includes time spent because they didn't have the foresight to have a transponder installed on the backup pace car.

Sarah Fisher is IndyCar's regular pace car driver. Oriol Servià, their back up driver, was working yesterday.

It also was ABC's last IndyCar broadcast. They pioneered broadcasting the Indy 500 back in the 1960's. Their broadcast crew included one of the most under rated racing broadcasters around, Allen Bestwick.
