As much as Honda has improved this season, they will need to take an even bigger step forward in 2019 or RBR will slide back toward the midfield.

You mean they didn't say, "Pierre Gasly will be our new #2 driver for next season."

Between that & Honda, I think it will add up to Haas being one rung further up the ladder.

Hehe...karma.  I wonder why Marko doesn’t think about things like the way they support Max even though DR has beaten Max the last 2 years and will probably again this year.  Or the commentary coming out of RBR about him having nowhere else to go trying to humiliate DR into signing again.  Or the fact that RBR has so poorly treated Renault, the company that gave them 4 Championships, and now choosing a huge unknown.

Renault will give him status on a team, and with that he can either take them far, or prove to others that he is deserving of a Ferrari or Mercedes seat.  The atmosphere at Renault won’t be as poisonous as at RBR, and DR can be very sure there will be no “instructions” at Renault about moving over for Max.

Of course the money is a factor too, but why would that surprise Marko?  I’m sure the contract that was waiting for DR at RBR wasn’t even as good as Max’s.

The rest of the season is going to be juicy at RBR.  I just wish we could get to see the icicles and fireworks inside the motorhome.

I wonder if this might have been a big factor?
