It's about time somebody took Max to the woodshed.

Nothing kills racing faster than a pile of wrecks being craned off the track... except maybe racers being carried off in ambulances.

These rules are in place to protect the drivers from themselves.  At heart they're all like Max, they want to do everything they can to win.  It's up to the people running the sport to make sure that everyone plays fair and safe, or else there will be no more sport.

No their all not like Max. Prove being when Lewis passed Kimi
at Monza,Kimi could have given Lewis a love tap but didn't.

This chat should have happened about three years ago. It's going to take a lot to get the bad habits Max has been allowed to acquire out of his system. I'm starting to wonder if it is even possible.

Totally agree.  There was already talk about wether Max should change after strings of wrecks. His own reply was an emphatic “No”, and RBR let him get away with it, which is why the FIA is going to have to step in.

A couple of race bans might help get his head into shape if he carries on being reckless.

You honestly don't think Kimi and Lewis wouldn't block if they were allowed to?

Of course they would.  They just respect the rules.

That's what I mean, the rules are there to protect the drivers from themselves, and whether the drivers follow it because it's fair, because it's safe, or because they don't want to get a penalty it doesn't matter, just so long as they follow the rules.  Max should abide by the rules, and they should've been enforced more strictly in the past before getting to this point.  So even though Max is wrong on track, he's right that he's not being treated fairly.  Of course, if he was being treated fairly he'd complain about that too.

For my money Max is bringing the sport into disrepute by not accepting the stewards are correct. He doesn't need a chat he needs hauling up on a disrepute charge, it's what would happen in most other sports if a participant challenges the ref or umpire's call in public.

The media and the public can argue the merit but teams and participants can't and shouldn't.

Appeal if you think it's wrong but keep your gob shut until vindicated, or more probably not, on appeal.

Max is one of those people we all know. Your wasting your time
trying to reason with him. In his mind he can do no wrong.

We need a petition to get rid of this jerk

The regulations do not allow in-race penalties (such as time or drive-through penalties) to be appealled. As in, the FIA will take your money, and open the meeting with "This appeal was not brought concerning a matter that is allowed to be appealed, so therefore we will dismiss the complaint without even bothering to read it, let alone waste time on a defence". Mouthing off to the press is the only form of protest permitted to Max, so the FIA would be in legal trouble if it attempted to prevent this.

If the FIA wants Max or anyone else to not complain about penalties, it will have to allow them to be appealled in the same way as post-race penalties (such as disqualifications for technical failures) can be. However, I believe the FIA will regard the benefits of stewards having as much power as their counterparts in rugby and football to be more important than having the power to squash non-abusive criticisms of steward conduct.

If Max had called the stewards something offensive, or implied he was going to thump them or something, that's another matter - the disrepute rule can be used with impunity in such situations, regardless of the type of case.
