Wider & simpler wings, allowing for closer and more intense racing - that's the plan set forth for Formula 1 in 2019.  ::)

This video explains how, & why, it should work on the cars of next year, - all we have to wait for is the interpretations by Newey et al to find out if the FIA working group is worthy of their name.  :D

Let's hope it works. Though I think some drivers use the aero excuse to mask their own lack of passing skills.
