Schumacher ... 5 Years On!!
« on: December 17, 2018, 07:46:25 AM »
It's hard to believe the accident is now close to five years and Schumy Is almost 50 years old!!!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formulaone/article-6502161/Five-years-life-changing-accident-inside-hidden-world-Michael-Schumacher.html

I'm sure by now, a staggering amount of money has been spent, keeping Michael alive .. and progress is kept very hush, if any is evident at all!!

Best Regards,
Cal :)

It's a good reminder that insurance isn't just a pay out for when you die, but also if you have any accidents or medical emergencies.  A million dollars/pounds/euros seems like a lot of money, until you need a couple of specialists and round the clock care... then a million doesn't go very far at all.

Take care of yourselves, take care of your families!

And this is why F1 drivers are required to have €10 m motorsport-covering insurance in place before they are permitted to participate in a F1 session. I'm not sure if Michael had it still in place or not, but as one of his sponsors (which, if I recall, continued sponsoring him after he finished his career) was a financial services company, I suspect he did. Which would explain why he's been able to sustain such good care services for so long.

One of the papers has started talking about improvements that may have recently occurred, and I'm hoping it is correct (even though I'm yet to hear any particular reason for or against its accuracy, hence my refusal to link to it).

I’m skeptical that he is improving.  I wouldn’t worry about his insurance, I think the Schumacher’s can self insure as long as he may live.

... after the 'so called' initial reports that Michael was responding to this, responding to that ... it's all gone very quiet, other than fake news along the way.   Like you say, I wouldn't think there has been any improvement after his initial condition stabilised.

Anyway, here is brighter news surrounding Schumy >

I'd sure like to see that exhibition, but a trip to Italy is not in my future at the moment so I hope they can make it a travelling show later on.
