I feel the livery is a step backwards from last year.

Definitely agree, the livery is definitely a downgrade on last year.

Yes indeed Guys!

These 'special' launches are getting a bit silly .. and pointless to some degree.  Temporary paint jobs on newish cars, or new paint jobs on old cars.

There, that's another 1% of my moaning allocation of the day used up!!  :DD

So, C'mon Ferrari, are we going to see Red today?

Best Regards,
Cal :)

I'm sure it's just the lighting in that photo, but it looks like a red post card, which has been left out in the sun too long.

I like the added black, as they had a few years back.   I "think" I liked the car when Alonso drove for Ferrari (the Red, some white and some black).  So, this is almost a return to that scheme - almost!

Cal :)

I am sorry to say but I don't like it.
The matt finish makes the car look very dull and boring. I know this is supposed to make the car faster but if that was true wouldn't all the teams be doing it?

I didn't know that Matt was one of the painters??  :DD

I'm just digging up front elevation photos and this is the best/largest clear photo I can track down at this point ...

Well I don't know if his name is Matt but whoever he is it's a crap job. Although the dull paint job suits their number one driver  ;) Come to think of it this paint job would have suited Kimi much better. They brought it out a year too late hehe

... talking of "Number 1" driver.   I just noticed this morning, as I started to work on my 2019 Ferrari car image, there is no driver number on the car, where other teams have typically placed their No1 (debatable) driver number on the launch photos.

It this typical Ferrari protocol, can't say I gave it any thought until now?

Cal :)

They did not want to upset Vettel by putting down Leclerc's number  ;)

They want the focus to be on their sponsors rather than their unacceptably high number (by this point, they really wanted #1 on their cars, not #5 or #16).

I don't follow your logic on that comment ... aren't the driver #s simply a predetermined driver preference and not any other system as seen in the past?

Sorry if I misinterpreted your response.

Cal :)

I think the reality is in recent years Ferrari have done all their launches without the car being dressed up for a particular driver.  They all launch without names and numbers.  Although in line with what Ali said above, in 2008 they launched with the number 1 proudly displayed on their car after Kimi won the championship the previous year.

I believe the WDC is entitled to use the #1 in place of his chosen number for the length of the following season. Hamilton just prefers 44 for some reason. If Vettel wins, I think Ferrari would pressure him to go with #1. That said I also think Vettel would want #1 anyway.

Yes, you are entirely correct Lonny about the number situation.  I think Hamilton has said he now feels no connection to Number 1 as his designated number of choice is 44 and he wants to stick with it to keep his brand going.  Which makes sense after the rule was brought in to give drivers a permanent number really.

But yeah, I also sense Vettel would want 1 on his!
