Bitter Rosberg

Rosberg sounds a bit bitter considering he won his title with Mercedes. Surely he should support them?? Someone throw him a sweet to take the edge off hehe

OH-EE! seems Nico's showing more than a little discontent with jumping ship after his WDC win.  :(

Looks like he would have been happy for Merc to go off the boil much earlier, maybe even the year after he left.
He's turning into Jacques V - mk 2.  :D

I was glad to see the back of him, never really rated him as WDC and I think he only retired because he knew that Lewis would reclaim his title the next season.

I totally agree Ian. I would go as far as to say it seemed a tiny bit suspicious how many engine related DNF's Lewis has that year as well  :DntKnw:

Like father like son for WDC wins, Keke lucked into his 1982 championship because of accidents to Ferrari drivers.
Firstly Villeneuve died at Belgian GP taking him out of the running and then after missing the Belgian race, Old man Ferrari withdrew team, Pironi injured himself at German GP meaning his season was finished 5 races from the end.
Pironi was still sitting just 5 points behind Rosberg in 2nd place at end of season.

Mind you I don't recall Keke ever dissing Williams.  ;)

I think I am right in saying Keke only won one race that whole season didn't he?? Sorry, I might be wrong as I was only just born hehe

You're right, only 1 win. Historic because it was the fewest wins ever for a WDC. He also scored the last F1 win for Cosworth the next season. (I think).

Cosworth's last F1 win to date was Giancarlo Fisichella in a Jordan at Brazil in 2004.

I've watched enough F1 that I would never denigrate a WDC as 'lucky'.  It's a lot of work to be in the right position to take advantage of that luck.

The only champions I would denigrate at the ones who would deliberately crash on track to knock out their opponents.  It's happened more than once, and to drivers who are known to be skilled.  It's actually one reason I hold Hamilton highly as a champion, he might whine and complain about his teammate and car, but I've never seen him act deliberately dangerously on track, especially with a championship on the line.  (Mind games and calculated risks are fine, and Hamilton has learned to use those better than anyone I've seen in F1)

I agree, Jeri. Until recently you had to be good to even reach F1. (Now money seems to make up for a lack of talent in some cases.) My opinion of Senna and Schumacher has always been lowered by their deliberate crashing to win.

I take the point Jeri and I agree with you, my wording should have been along the lines of fortuitous events instead of lady luck. My real point was that both of them had a run of circumstances that might never repeat, which is surely why Nico jumped ship from Merc.

However I'm sure there are many drivers who lost out on WDCs who would regard themselves as being really unlucky on the day. Mansell in 86 when his tyre burst in Aus at last race, or Massa in 08 who lost out to Lewis in Brazil because Glock couldn't handle the Toy in the wet - to name a couple.   ;)

Unexpected championships are the best, aren't they?  Kimi in 2007, Button in 2009 and Vettel in 2010.

Brazil 2003. Trust me, I remember... ...Brazil 2004 was Williams' penultimate win to date. (What is it about Brazil anyway?)
