Foreign Objects on Track ...
« on: February 23, 2019, 11:28:21 PM »
I know that could be said for "some" of the drivers, but looking back over the years, I thought it would be funny to discuss some of the "things" found out on an F1 race track, whether during testing, qualifying or an actual race.

Clearly, these are the obvious ones I can think of right now:

1) Seagull (funny discussion after session between Lewis & Seb)
2) Man in Raincoat (protest of some kind many years back)
3) Giant Lizard (spotted by Max during Malaysia GP?)

What else can you recall as "odd sightings" out on track?

Best Regards,
Cal :)

There was a fuzzy critter that was the subject of some argument at Montreal a decade or so ago. Some said it was a beaver, some said it was a groundhog.

I believe a deer was sighted in Germany or Austria some years ago. Montreal has also seen a Fox and Britain saw a crazy Scot as I recall.

There was the dog on the track at Buddh International Circuit back in 2011.

I was tempted to make a joke about people impersonating F1 drivers, such as Yuji Ide, but decided against it  ;)

Wow!! All that wildlife. I am surprised David Attenborough didn't rock up, although if he did he would have stopped the race for an hour while he discussed it.
Just throwing it out to you all, maybe he was our anorak wearing friend  :o

During the interminable red flag at the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix, there was an ornithology class in the BBC commentary booth, attempting to identify what manner of black, white and red bird was gracing the circuit.

I'm pretty sure it was an Irish looney, Lonny.  ;)

I've seen rabbits on track at Brands Hatch, mind you it was just after dawn and there were no cars or people making noise.  :D

If we're allowed to count times when cars are not on track...

...I'd like to submit "Darth Vader and about 1200 of his chums, including at least 40 F1 personnel. All of whom were wearing trainers and most of whom lapped me"

That works for me, so long as you can provide photographic evidence?  :DD

Unfortunately I don't take photos of my running races. Though it will soon be possible to enter and see who shows up this May?
