No wonder Paddy has taken the fall; - car late, slowest of the field in testing and now it appears even basic arithmetic is beyond them.  :swoon:
Trick parts haven't improved speed they've just caught the FIA's eye.  :(
Hey maybe if the car travelled faster it would have been harder to spot the illegal parts.  :DD

6 or 7?  It's nearly the same, isn't it?

Not when the rules say 6. I hope .
Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."

So Williams have just scored a hat trick then... shite car, shite at cheating and shite at not getting caught.
It reminds me of the Rhod Gilbert sketch about the restaurant Red Hen. I would put up a link but it's a little close to the wire but it's basically, "1000 times worse  than anything."

Seriously? ... talk about adding insult to injury!!

How bad are things going to get for Williams??

Anyway, they don't need rear view mirrors, so that's one issue of the list!!  :D ... Sorry Luke!  :(

Best Regards,
Cal :)

How are they supposed to see the cars coming up to lap them without the mirrors?  Come on Cal  :tease:

Umm, yes, I'm BUSTED!! ... I was thinking more about getting off the grid at the green light, I almost forgot about the 8 seconds a lap difference between Hams, Sebs and everyone else'th.

Cal :)

Here's a good example of too much regulation. Why should the FIA/FOM regulate the suspension to that extent? If seven is an improvement on 6 let them do it.

I take your point on over regulation Cos Lonny, however I think the restriction is to prevent a war amongst teams adding elements for aero gain rather than improving suspension.

Adrian et al might consider at least a dozen not enough.  :D

I’m with Lonny.  There are plenty of ways to determine aero gain or loss by adding a suspension part - as long THAT is in the rules, but limiting the number of suspension arms also limits innovation, which is what F1 engineering is all about (or supposed to be).

I'm not against extra elements for the suspension Scott and totally support more freedoms for engineers to push development.
Williams problem with the 7th element seems to be that no one can work out any contribution to suspension operation or efficiency. Looking more like a disguised areo part than anything else..

You’re right John, if it has no purpose other than aero, it should be removed or adapted to remove any aero gain.  But otherwise, if it holds their weirdo mirrors stability, who cares?  And by limiting suspension arms, it limits innovation on suspension geometry, so if a team can’t spend some time on that without breaking the rules, they won’t even try.
