  • Kimi thinks ALFA are moving ahead

It would make for a great story if Kimi and Alfa find a satisfying level of success - it would be a good thing for neutral fans and more so, a great thing for F1.

    Best Regards,
    Cal :)

As much as I'd love F1 teams to be privateers, I do think that recognizable names having success in the sport is good for the sport.

(McLaren and Ferrari DID start as privateers afterall, and are known names outside the sport.  I know that Williams is a respectable engineering company, I wish they'd have a little more success on track to back up that reputation.)

  • Dad has predicted Kimi to get a podium this year since more or less the moment when Kimi signed for them, and now I can see why.

I think your Dad could be right.

  • Following on from yesterdays red flag in the 5th minute of testing, today Albon has brought it out in the second minute.  Impressive!

I know these testing times are mostly irrelevant but I can't help thinking that it particularly good to see Kimi knocking Ferrari off the top of the sheet!

  • Despite nearly spinning, Russell is quickly reducing his lap times.
It really brings home the problem of not having a driver with recent F1 experience. If he is slow; is it him or is it the car?? If both Russell and Kubica are slow, is it them or is it the car??

  • What's missing from your best times list is the tyres Monty.
The top 3 all set times on the softest compound, Vettel set his on the medium C3 compound.

Still gives us a clue that some of the mid field are in good shape for Melbourne, all we need to know now is will the engines take it when they turn em up.  :D

  • Those Honda vibration rumours just won't disappear.  I am convinced there is something about them and the relationship will sour very quickly if it is the case.

Excuse me but at the time of reporting that information wasn't available  ;) I had to stop watching then because I was meant to be working.
I do not take anything from these times anyway. I'm sure Russell being 5seconds off the next slowest driver does not indicate that he or the car cannot do better times and I am even more certain that the fact that Hamilton is that 'next slowest' driver does not indicate that Mercedes are facing a season at the back of the grid! All we can take from these times, and all of the testing so far, is that the cars all have speed and reliability has been quite good. Fingers crossed for a good season.
