Return of the Silver Fox? ...
« on: March 14, 2019, 05:20:34 PM »
Surely not???

https://www.grandprix.com/news/ecclestone-plays-down-f1-return-rumours.html

Mind you, some people would say that Bernie could still run F1 effectively at 125y/o ... compared to the job that Liberty & Co. are doing!!  :tease:

If this is a recent photo, the Goatee takes 25 years off! ... he only looks 99 in that photo.

Best Regards,
Cal :)

I thought for a minute you meant Phillip Schofield was making a return to F1.  Then I realised he had never been in F1.

We shouldn't let Liberty Media's ownership make us look back that fondly at Bernie's reign.  It is him that led to F1 going increasingly behind paywalls, who rejected the internet, who priced circuits out of the sport.

If F1 could find a new leader with half of Bernie's F1 knowledge and someone who realises that "Internet" is not fishing gear from Belgium ... then we may get somewhere!!  :DD

I still think Rowan Atkinson should run the sport (just don't give him another McLaren F1 though!!  ::) )

Please no more talk of Bernie return,  :nono: he's part of history and we all need to move on.

I'm no fan of Liberty but feel that it's Todt at the FIA that needs replacing, with Brawn working for FOM there's too much shared mutually beneficial history for a sensible separation between rule making and promoter to settle matters purely in the series/fans interest.   >:(

Some times you think of the good old times then
remember  they weren't that good.

Very True.  Did you know that before Bernie, the teams split 85% of F1's revenue? After Bernie about 77% goes to Liberty instead. Think Williams, Sauber and the other independents might fare a bit better under the old rules? Bernie was generally bad for F1.

I'll definitely agree with that Dare!!! .. but I fear that F1 is in for a bumpy road ahead.

I've learned over the years that the quickest way to ruin anything is to get some Wall Street Mega Corp involved. As bad as Bernie had gotten to be, he can't hold a candle to that lot.

Besides, I thought The Silver Fox was David Pearson.  ;)

I guess Sly Old Fox fits Mr E better than Silver, he'd say coming 2nd (silver) is first loser - and he does that badly.  ;)
