Night Races? ...
« on: March 28, 2019, 06:39:48 PM »
Hi folks!

Now that we've had a few years under our belts, how do you assess F1 night races, in terms of quality of racing, visual spectacle etc.  ??

Personally, I think they look good, but I feel more 'involved' with the action on track during the traditional daylight races, don't know why, but I do?

How about you?

Best Regards,
Cal :)

Not a fan of night races. Seem to be all about lighting and effects.
If I recall correctly, Singapore was set up so it would occur at a time when it was mid-day in the UK, the largest F1 TV fan base.
Bahrain seems to be just a vehicle for well lit and glitzy displays on the buildings.
Unless it makes it a better race then why waste the cash.

I like the night races because it usually means it's scheduled for a time I can watch it live.

i do like the how the glossy cars look under the lights, but we're getting more cars with the flat paint jobs, which I do not care for (day or night)

I barely notice the difference. They're too much like day races for my liking. Maybe if everyone got fireproof pyjamas for the races and hot chocolate was on offer to everyone, it might feel more like a distinct event...

Yeah Alia,  :good: they could spray Ovaltine on the podium as champers not allowed in Bahrain.  :DD :DD

Having one night race was OK. It was a novelty, a way to spice up an otherwise boring street race. Now that they have more than one, it's just another gimmick. (Just like street races)

I like the light wash of the cars (matt colors as well), and the colorful background cityscapes, but once the race is on, I forget about the lighting.  At the end of the day it doesn’t matter to me.

As for the drivers, I think they have to wait too late into the day to race, and I wonder how that affects their concentration and energy levels.

I personally like night races, they always seem a lot more chilled out. Plus the setting looks spectacular lit up at night.

The drivers don't have to wait that long Scott. They wake up at lunchtime as they stay on European time. So they are pretty much as fresh as a daisy.
