Bottas in the lead.  Kimi one place behind Vettel.  Ricciardo can’t finish a race.

I have to admit looking at that, I am surprised that neither Williams driver is bottom of the ranking.  The car is slow, but it finished races!

Pleasantly surprised to see Norris doing so well, I thought for a while he may have been overhyped but he is proving himself a very solid driver so far.  You'd have to say Gasly being so far behind Vettel is also surprising and worrying for him if it continues.  I have to echo Scott about Ricciardo not finishing either race.

You've pretty much covered the obvious shocks guys!!

I have to echo the current position with Gasly.  Yes, we are only 2 races in, but RBR will surely have early concerns, well, Dr Wacko will at least!!!

So, first points for Danny Ric in China? ... 1st win for LeClerc?? ... or how about this crazy forecast ... Kimi finishes ahead of Seb???

Best Regards,
Cal :)

Having Bottas, Stroll, LeClerc and Norris ahead of their teammates is surprising for sure.  Bottas seems to be a temporary situation, but LeClerc and Norris seem to be the 'real deal'.  (And if I'd be happy to be wrong about Bottas, Mercedes with two #1 drivers is a lot of fun)

I'm disappointed that Ricciardo isn't making any progress.  Also that Racing Point seems to have taken a step backwards.  Of course, they had a rough 2018 behind the scenes, so I'd guess that put their development for 2019 out the window.

I was hoping that Williams would find something extra for the season, but I'm not really surprised they didn't.

I think Renault will pick up the pace in the next few races.  Of course, Melbourne and the double DNF last week didn't help!!!

Williams are now in the "long game recovery" .... in a similar way to McLaren's tough years (although with different issues/circumstances).

If they get it right, maybe half of the teams on the grid will be fighting for podiums in 2021 ... but I doubt it.

Best Regards,
Cal :)

I'm surprised that McLaren is ahead of Renault & that K-Mag is ahead of Grosjean. I hope they can spray Romain's car with Lance repellent & he can score some points this week.

I think if Grosjean doesn't perform this year he's gone.
Stroll on the other hand is very safe. Gasly may not
last the half season

I think Gasly saved himself today.  If he can stay within a couple of places of Max, then he will be a worthy tail gunner for RBR.

Gasly will last as long as it takes for Dan Ticktum to qualify for a Superlicence. I say that even if he somehow wins the title between now and then.

That's exactly my thought Ali, Gasly is a placeholder, a bit like Kvyat in the Toro Rosso.
