Rosberg missing from F1 paddock & grid due to ban
« on: May 01, 2019, 11:29:05 AM »
Nico Rosberg might have thought that his days of falling foul of F1's bosses were over in retirement, but apparently not.

Formule1.nl website has reported that Rosberg was banned from the China GP paddock, rendering him unable to take up media duties for RTL and Sky.

The issue stems from Rosberg reportedly giving his 'life access' paddock pass - awarded to all former champions - to a member of his media team in China to access the grid.

Expect to see naughty boy Nico back on your screens in Monaco, although the 2016 champ is still analysing from afar on his YouTube channel.
Has anyone missed him?...……... not I.  :D

I don't see a problem with a champion letting a friend or colleague or whoever use their 'Life Pass'.  Just so long as the holder of the pass respects the rules.

I'm sure there is fine print that it's non transferable, but that's silly.  I mean if there were thousands of champions crawling all over the pitlane, sure, but there's what, 20*?  Three of them are still driving, two of them are actively employed by teams.

*I was sort of surprised to discover there are 20 living WDC winners.

The fine print says the pass is not transferable, officially for security reasons but in reality because non-champions have to pay for their access, and Liberty does not want to see its champions giving away freebies become used as a cynical cost-saving exercise by broadcasters.
