COTA Looses $25 Million in State Funds
« on: May 30, 2019, 03:27:46 PM »
The Texas State Legislature failed to re-authorize the $25.9 million paid to COTA for the U.S.G.P. The legislature will not meet again until 2 January, 2021. By law, it only meets on the first 140 days of odd numbered years.

This is a problem. A large one. No sterling, no Stirling Moss.

I'm not sure which is weirder... that COTA lost their funding because they didn't prove they're not involved in human trafficking, or that the legislature of one of the largest states just stops working for 2 years.

Is human trafficking a problem associated with motorsports?  Or is it more a southern Texas problem?

Is it common for American legislatures to take so much time off?  How does anything get done?

Human Trafficking is a big deal with Trump and his wall. Since Texas government is GOP controlled, that makes Trump's issues their issues. This is just an excuse to dump COTA  which was barely approved in the first place. Makes the Texas GOP look good to it's rich base, who don't believe it, but like the money Trump puts in their pockets. And it makes the Texas GOP look good to it's poor base who believe anything Trump and his minions say.
