  • For the most part, F1 didn't have much in way of guard rails (a.k.a. Armco) until Jackie Steward's push for safety in the early 1970's. Here's Sir Jackie at the Nurburgring in 1967. Notice the complete lack of guard rails. In spite of what the comments below the vid say, I think he's driving a BRM P115.
