Along with new windtunnel this real major investment is surely a statement of intent. Of course it could just be expensive capital investment ahead of the cost cap.

Pima Air and Space Museum used to have a flight sim that showed an F-18 on a carrier launch attack somewhere in the Middle East. It used ground sensing radar for a terrain hugging approach. Seats moved around, surround sound, as real as they could make it. Actually made me quite nauseous just sitting there. That was 10 or 12 years ago, can't imagine what they can do now.
